Framing it as a question of "diversity," or "fear" demonstrates a profound missing of the point. The government does not want diversity. In fact, no one really wants diversity. The call for diversity is a call for the acceptance of the abberant, for vicarious self-validation. In this case, it comes in the form of California court requiring children to worship at the altar of the great god Modernism.

Regarding "fear," I think this word has been stripped of any meaningful definition over the past two decades or so. All it really means now, in the popular context, is "unwillingness to agree with me."

what's evident is that the state of California is confusing motivation with principle. it is unfortunate that it so awkwardly articulates what is in my opinion a noble principle; an earnest appreciation for diversity. however, California has placed the cart before the horse here and, per the right-thinking likes of former supreme court justice o'conner, tried to invoke diversity through force.

I can just imagine a collection of home-schoolers howling, "look at the homosexual mommy, it is fascinating, let's study its habits." we need diversity to counter fear, it's utility is invaluable. demanding it of our children, however, will only bolster an already alarming degree of fear plauging society.
